PWR XFR UNIT (PTU)
- What activates the PTU when it’s ARMED?
- If the Left Hydraulic System pressure drops below 1500 psi with at least 1 gal of fluid in the left system, and pressure in the right system, the PTU will automatically come ON.
- What is the FLOW rate of the PTU?
- 22 gals per minute.
- What is the TRIP POINT OF an amber L – R HYD RSVR HOT message?
- 104.4° C or 220° F
- What will cause the PTU to shut off automatically?
- If Left System Pressure goes above 1500 psi
- loss of fluid in L or R System
- R HDY RSVR HOT message (Temperature › 104.4° C)
- If the PTU shuts off due to an over heat condition, can it be turned ON?
- Yes, it may be Hard Selected ON
- What does the PTU power?
- Everything that the LEFT HYD System powers, except:
the Left Thrust Reverser,
and the Flight Controls.

- What systems does the AUX Pump Power?
- Close the Main Door
- Open or Close the Gear Doors
- NWS and Brakes on the Ground
- Flaps
- Left Rudder / Yaw Damper via the STBY RUDDER Switch in flight.
- Park EMER Brake Accumulator Pressure.
- Which Battery is used to close the Main Door from the outside Door Switch?
- Only the Right Battery, which is hot-wired to the Main Door Switch.
- What is the flow rate of the AUX PUMP?
- @ 2 GPM at 3000 PSI
- What does the AUX Suction Boost Pump do and where is it located?
- Provides a head of pressure to the AUX PUMP whenever the reservoir pressure drops below 20 PSI and shuts off when the pressure goes above 25 PSI.
- It is located in front and on the left side of the # 1 Main Battery in the Tail Compartment.
- What is the maximum temperature of the AUX PUMP?
- 356° F
- Will the AUX PUMP shut OFF if you see an amber AUX PUMP HOT message?
- NO
- When ARMED, what causes the AUX PUMP to come ON Automatically?
- Depressing any brake pedal 10° when L SYS/PTU HYD PRESS is less than 1500 PSI.
